First Day-Atlanta!

Today was our first day on the trip! Even though most of the day was spent on the bus, it was still fun. Last night we watched one of my favorite movies of all times, Remember the Titans. A fantastic movie that is both entertaining yet gives an excellent portrayal of desegregation in the south. This morning we watched the movie, Ghosts of Mississippi. It was the story of civil rights leader Medger Evers, who was assassinated by a KKK leader who wasn't put to justice until 25 years later. It was really interesting to see the politics and attitudes of the people in Mississippi both now and 25 years ago during the movement. It's also wonderful to see justice served, even if it is decades later.
Once we got to Atlanta, a group of us went to the Georgia Aquarium. It was so awesome! It is apparently the largest aquarium in the U.S. and it was so amazing. They had a ton of fish I had never seen before, and beluga whales. We also went to CNN for a bit to take pictures with the CNN cutout celeb's, the closest I will get to Anderson Cooper.
Although we got a bit behind today due to weather, but it was still a fun filled day. I cannot wait for tomorrow to visit all of the MLK jr. sights and attend a church service at the Ebenezer Baptist Church! So, tootaloo until tomorrow!
