Wonderful Start!

We had a fantastic start to our trip. Dr. Jacqueline Rouse lectured to our group on her home campus- Georgia State University. She shared information about here upcoming book on Septima Clark and loads of information on many of the women of the movement. It was exciting to hear her lecture after reading her work in our class. The students had excellent questions for her and learned a lot from her. Many thanks to her for giving up her valuable time on a Saturday to be with us.
We also enjoyed some time seeing the sites in downtown Atlanta. After treating ourselves to excellent shakes at Johnny Rockets I toured the World of Coca Cola. My daughters loved being able to sample from the 67 flavors of soda from around the world. After enjoying Coca Cola for a couple of hours we took a quick stroll through Olympic Park. We also checked in at the CNN Center so my girls could see the news in action. Many of the students opted to take the studio tour while we were at Coca Cola. They all said they enjoyed the tour.

I'm reminded again that we have such amazing students. They appreciate all of the opportunities they are given to grow, learn, and experience! It is such an honor to be able to learn with them. I am especially looking forward to the remainder of the trip because of the incredible group of students assembled for this learning adventure. I am truly lucky to work at UW-Eau Claire!
