What a start!

Well, the trip is finally underway and it has been a blast thus far. The bus ride was great, other than the sleeping of course! All of the tiredness was overcome with great excitement very quickly though. After a pit stop in Tennessee for breakfast we set off for Atlanta, Georgia.

We arrived and Atlanta around noon and were sent off to go and eat lunch. After lunch we went to Georgia State University to hear Dr. Jacqueline Rouse speak. She gave a lively lecture and then opened the session up for questions. It is unbelievable how some significant players in the Civil Rights Movement get no mention in history books. Many very important women of the movement are completely overlooked. It is a good experience learning about these women; hopefully we can continue to keep their stories alive so that future generations can be inspired by their hard work.

After that amazing experience we had a few hours of free time. My group went to the CNN building and the Coca-Cola building. Both places were great to see, and both were very enjoyable. Then we were off to the hotel for a good night's sleep.

Well, one good day in the books. Hopefully tomorrow is just as great.
