Catching up on pics from Birmingham

Acting silly with one of the pieces of symbolic art at the Kelly Ingram Park. The park had SO many cool yet chilling statues with images of attack dogs, firehoses, and other symbols of oppression used upon activists that used this park for their demonstrations. Apparently there's still water damage on some of the trees in the park from the fire hose blasts aimed at people.

MLK's birthplace. The stories that the tour guide told were phenominal. It made MLK seem so human, because normally he is projected as a sort of saint on earth. But the tour guide told us a few gems about M.L. terrorizing his little sister's dolls, jumping off the roof imitating Superman (and amazingly staying safe and in one piece!), and scheming ways to avoid piano lessons. His sister noted that M.L. and his brother adapted their policies of non-violent confrontation a few years late. :)

MLK, JFK,RFK, and (K?)

Fantastic quote from the MLK museum.
