Another Awesome Day

And another day is in the books. What a day it was! We started out a little later today, which was okay because we got a little more sleep. After a bite for breakfast we headed out for a great day in Alabama.

We started out at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. What a beautiful campus! We joined Doctor Pamela King’s “History of Alabama Class”. We discussed the Civil Rights Movement and current race relation issues. It was fascinating to hear about race issues from the perspective of southerners. It was a great experience, and I gained some understanding of current race relations in the south.

After the college visit we travelled to Montgomery, Alabama to see the Rosa Parks Museum and Library. It was a wonderful tribute to a great woman and an important movement. We had a fantastic tour guide who filled us with a great deal of knowledge about the Montgomery Bus Boycott and other parts of the Civil Rights Movement. It was a great time.

We finished our day at Dreamland Bar-B-Que. What a delicious meal. And oh, the hospitality! That was the first time I ever had the urge to hug the waitress after my meal. That’s when you know it was good.

Off to bed to prepare for another action-packed day. It should be another entertaining day. Very, very, excited!
