This trip was something special. Our group was sort of like pioneers into a new idea or a brain child, if you will.
I think that out work down in New Orleans was the most important part of this trip. We were helping in a way that would not have been accomplished if it were not for us. This is a great feeling!

I think everyone should go on this trip or a trip like it some time in their lives. It really opens your eyes when you are living in a place like Wisconsin to the rest of the nation. This trip made me go back in time and helped me make connections with today.. and the injustice of race issues.
The Civil Rights Pilgrimage is taken by students at UW-Eau Claire each winter and spring break to explore the Deep South and be immersed in the history of the Civil Rights Movement. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students have the opportunity to spend their winter or spring break on a Civil Rights Pilgrimage to the South, visiting sites of historic importance to the U.S. civil rights movement. This blog is a record of the learning experiences of our students dating back to our first trip in March 2008.
