Sweet Home Alabama

Today we were in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama. In Birmingham we had the pleasure to meet with a lady whose brother was involved in the civil rights movement in Birmingham (and was one of the people who were hit by high powered hoses). She helped to put a personal perspective on what had happened in Birmingham. We also had a driving tour of the historical 4th avenue district. For lunch we went to Mrs. B's, which was Amazing! I have never been to a restaurant quite like that, it was truly one of a kind! Complete with great food, great people, and a great atmosphere! In Montgomery we went to the troy university Rosa Parks museum and library. It was very interesting to see some original documents and see a reenactment of the events when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat for a white man and to see how the boycott that followed nearly bankrupted the bus company.
