I feel blessed to be able to participate in a journey to the deep South with students and staff from our University along with my son, Ryan. Today was a remarkable experience that began with an inspiring and welcoming faith service complete with beautiful music and a sermon that caused us all to think about our lives in context. The visit to Martin Luther King Jr's family home where he lived till he was 12 years old gave us insight into the family life that helped form the man he was to become.
One of the exciting aspects of our trip is that we have a number of international students who are on the trip and they have helped me to learn along the way about how they see our country and our history. The student coordinators along with Jodi Thesing-Ritter have put so much work into the planning and implementation of the trip and are to be commended for the great job they are doing.I am looking forward to what is to come.
