The most amazing part about this whole trip for me is that the history is still alive in the hearts and minds of those far older and wiser than we are. It is amazing to think that as we pass people on the street, many were alive to experience the history first-hand, and many were raised with a hierarchy of status based on race. I feel that I am lucky to have been born into a more tolerant culture, though as I learn the history more and more, I am acutely aware of how much more needs to still be done.
