Day 1 and 2

Hello Atlanta!

Yesterday we left UWEC around 4:30pm and got started right away with getting to know one another. We did a sort of "speed dating" activity to get to know other people on our bus. I really enjoyed this activity and it made the three hours to Madison go by really quickly. We stopped at East Towne Mall to eat at the food court for dinner. From there it was the beginning of a very long night on the bus. We stopped in Leroy, Illinois for a bathroom break/get ready for bed stop. This pit stop took awhile due to the large number of females on the two busses and the presence of only a single small bathroom area. We eventually got going again and everyone did their best to try and sleep. We stopped again around 4:30am in Paducah, Kentucky to gas up and change bus drivers. At around 8:30am we stopped in Tennessee for breakfast and then continued into Atlanta.

Our first activity in Atlanta was the CNN Studio Tour and it was awesome! I love watching the news (and especially CNN) and being able to see a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on was really cool. The media has such a huge impact on our lives and it was nice to understand how the information the media provides us with is found. After CNN, I took the opportunity to go to the World of Coca-Cola and try the variety of different flavors of Coke from around the world. Personally, I thought the flavors from England and Italy tasted horrible but Spain was my favorite and tasted like raspberry ice tea. After our afternoon activities we checked into our hotel and were provided with a pizza dinner. Everyone is pretty tired and looking forward to sleeping in a bed tonight!
